History

Over its 10 year history, US Oil Sands has developed its innovative bitumen extraction process and has been active in the State of Utah since 2005.

 

2013

  • November - Ramp-up of all professional and supplier activities for the PR Spring Project
  • October - Closed $81 million strategic financing that fully funds 2,000 bbl/d PR Spring Project and enables initiation of additional corporate development activities
  • June - Project work commenced on the PR Spring Project through supply of road-building material and extended duration pump test of the production water well
  • May to October - Extensive financing related activities including marketing, negotiations, field reviews and due diligence
  • April - Received independent resources assessment indicating 184.3 million barrels of oil in place
  • January to December - Progressed final engineering of process designs and continued detailed mine planning

2012

  • August - Received Canadian patent
  • May to October - Completed field program including drilling 37 core holes, developing a commercial water supply and defining surface miner operation configuration
  • May - Closed $11.0 million private placement financing to fund 2012 field program, working capital and initial project capital
  • February - Received independent resoure assessment indicating 189.9 million barrels of oil in place

2011

  • June to November - Completed field program including drilling 180 core holes, evaluating water supply and testing surface mining equipment
  • June - Closed acquisition of 24,170 acres of undeveloped oil sands leases in the Uinta basin. This new land is referred to as the Cedar Camp Project area
  • April - Closed $12.6 million private placement financing to fund 2011 field program, lease acquisition and working capital
  • April - Earth Energy Resources Inc. completed reverse take-over of public company shell, to become US Oil Sands Inc., listed on the TSX Venture Exchange under "USO"

2010

  • February - Acquired 1,560 acres of land in the Uinta Basin - adding to the PR Spring Project area
  • January to September - Completed extensive process design work with varying duration runs of the Shop Demonstration Unit
  • January - Closed $1.1 million private placement financing to fund working capital

2009

  • September - Received Large Mine Permit approval from the Utah Division of Oil, Gas and Mining
  • January to December - Completed 16 runs of the Shop Demonstration Unit to gather additional engineering design information

2008

  • October - Engaged independent process equipment supplier to integrate various solids separation technologies into 2,000 bbl/d commercial extraction process
  • June - Closed $2.1 million private placement financing
  • April to December - Completed 27 Shop Demonstration Unit runs to further understand process variables
  • March - Received Ground Water Discharge Permit-By-Rule approval by Utah Division of Water Quality
  • February - Acquired 1,905 acres of land in the Uinta Basin - called the Northwest Project area

2007

  • October - Completed filing of international patent application through World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)
  • September - Submitted Large Mine Application to the Utah Division of Oil, Gas and Mining
  • July - Engaged independent engineering firm to perform scale-up engineering services and initial process validation
  • February to December - Completed over 30 Shop Demonstration Unit runs to generate data for scale-up engineering
  • February - Completed Shop Demonstration Unit in Grande Prairie; commenced testing

2006

  • September - Conducted electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) on the PR Spring Project area to delineate general bitumen targets and oil sand deposition
  • April - Acquired 1,808 acres of land in the Uinta Basin - adding to the PR Spring Project area
  • January - Initiated design and fabrication of 25 bbl/d automated and instrumented Shop Demonstration Unit for testing and collection of commercial engineering information

2005

  • November - Conducted successful field pilot test in Uinta Basin at PR Spring Project area
  • October - Closed $5.3 million private placement to fund field pilot test, project capital and working capital
  • August - Received Small Mine Permit approval by Utah Division of Oil, Gas and Mining
  • January to June - Acquired 2,562 acres and 50 acres of land in the Uinta Basin - called the PR Spring Project area

2004

  • October - Began initial international filing of patent
  • April - Completed 6 hour continuous pilot trial on 25 ton Athabasca oil sand
  • January to September - Continued development and construction of the extraction process

2003

  • March to Septemember - Fabricated and developed 150 bbl/d test unit
  • February - Company incorporated as Earth Energy Resources Inc.
